Liverpool are hopeful Mohamed Salah has avoided serious injury after the forward limped off during the win over Leicester City on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp reacted furiously to Hamza Choudhury’s challenge on Salah, insisting the Leicester midfielder should have been sent off.

Salah was withdrawn after being hacked down by Choudhury and there were fears he could have suffered an Achilles injury.

But the Mirror claim Liverpool are now hopeful the injury is not long-term and Salah will be fully fit by the end of the international break.

Liverpool’s dramatic 2-1 win over Leicester was their last Premier League clash before a two-week international break and the club medical staff think Salah has managed to dodge serious injury.

The news will be a big boost for Klopp, with Liverpool flying high at the top of the league table.

Liverpool are eight points ahead of Manchester City following the defending champions’ shock defeat to Wolves on Sunday.

City’s squad has been plagued by costly injuries in defence and Wolves piled the pressure on Pep Guardiola with a 2-0 victory at the Etihad.
