Liverpool goalkeeper sent to specialist with ongoing concussion issues

Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan has been given the all-clear by a specialist regarding concussion issues that have kept him sidelined since January.

The former Bolton stopper is on loan at Scottish side Hibernian but has not featured since a head injury caused him to be substituted against Elgin City back in January.

The Hungarian has now returned to light training after being sent for an expert opinion on his prolonged absence.

After his withdrawal was initially described as precautionary, Bogdan was later revealed to have suffered a concussion.

New head coach Paul Heckingbottom has not been able to call on Bogdan early in his stint at the helm at Easter Road.

And he’s now revealed the full extent of the Reds’ keepers’ concussion effects, which required a trip to a specialist.

He is still being monitored after a return to light training and there is no timescale on his return to first team action.

The keeper is set to depart Liverpool in the summer

Heckingbottom revealed: “You cannot be too careful with a head injury but Adam has been to see a specialist who was happy while the scans came back clear.

“We’ve also been working closely with Liverpool and now Adam is doing low-key training and, although we haven’t set any sort of timescale on his return, we hope to have him out working on the grass soon.”

Bogdan is battling to earn his next contract as he looks set to depart Liverpool in the summer.

He is out of contract at Anfield and has not played a game for the Reds since May 2016.
