Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp urged to tie down to two stars to new contracts

Liverpool have been urged to tie down Alisson and Gini Wijnaldum down to new contracts. The duo have become a huge part of the squad’s spine under Jurgen Klopp and are a big part of the club’s plans moving forward.

For Wijnaldum, the matter has rumbled on for far too long with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2021.

All parties remain confident that an agreement will still be reached in the coming months.

Klopp loves Wijnaldum and the Dutchman considers Anfield his second home after Holland.

Pundit Danny Mills believes Wijnaldum’s age will be something the club consider when they make their offer of a new contract.

“Hopefully, they can meet in the middle somewhere.”

The former Newcastle man has been an immovable object in the starting line-up for the past two seasons, despite a number of midfielders arriving at Anfield.

But Wijnaldum is not the only star who warrants a new contract, in the view of Mills.

Speaking of the impact Alisson has had on Klopp’s side, the former England International claimed the Brazilian could provide the answer between the sticks for the next decade.

“It is very important Liverpool tie him down to a new deal,” he also told Football Insider.

“He is calmness personified. He is exceptional at what he does and gives everyone that assurance with that air of confidence that he has.

“We have seen goalkeepers go on to their late thirties and there is no reason that he is not of that ilk

“Alisson keeps himself fit, as players do in this day and age, so there is every chance he could have a very long career.”
