As Everton search for a permanent successor to Silva, Duncan Ferguson has been put in interim charge of the side.
“It’s unfortunate he’s lost his job and it’s a sad time,” the imposing Scot said of his former boss.
“Nobody wants to see the manager lose his job and there’s a mixed feeling with the players. It’s our job to pick them up now.”
Asked whether he would want to land the Goodison Park job permanently, Ferguson was honest but modest.
