LIVERPOOL 5-3 CHELSEA

87: Chelsea have now conceded more goals than Brighton. In other news, Adam Lallana will NOT feature tonight despite Liverpool’s two-goal advantage. Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are replaced by Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino.

LIVERPOOL 5-3 CHELSEA | OX

84: GOAL! The Premier League champions have scored their FIFTH of the evening to kill Chelsea’s hopes of Champions League qualification tonight.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has the goal, but this one is all down to Andrew Robertson. The left-back powers the length of the field, beating Jorginho along the way, before crossing for the Ox. The substitute makes no mistake when lashing past Kepa Arrizabalaga.

83: Poor old Adam Lallana. He’s sat on the bench and it doesn’t look like he’ll get to feature on his last game at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp still has two substitutes he can use but with the game poised like this – it seems unlikely.

Joe Gomez booked.

80: Ten minutes remaining on the clock as yet more fireworks are set off outside Anfield. Chelsea fancy their chances now, they are applying all the pressure.

78: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain replaces Mohamed Salah. He’s not happy with that decision – he wants his 20th Premier League goal of the campaign.

75: We have 15 minutes left on the clock. Remember, Chelsea need a draw to secure Champions League qualification. I really didn’t see this happening at 4-1!

LIVERPOOL 4-3 CHELSEA | PULISIC

73: GOAL! This is bonkers. We have a seven-goal thriller at Anfield as Christian Pulisic reduces the deficit. What an impact the US international has made.

Joe Gomez and Virgil Van Dijk won’t want to see this again. The Liverpool centre-backs collide when challenging for the same ball and both fall over. The ball arrives at Pulisic’s feet with his back to goal. He swivels away from Trent Alexander-Arnold and fires it into the roof of the net. Outstanding finish.

69: Drinks break.

67: Double change for Liverpool. James Milner replaces Georginio Wijnaldum but the second is more significant and that’s the arrival of Curtis Jones. The teenager makes his medal-qualifying appearance by replacing Naby Keita.

66: More fireworks outside Anfield. Who the heck is paying for this stuff?!

64: Christian Pulisic is at it. He breaks the offside trap to chest down a Reece James cross but screws his effort wide of the target with Trent Alexander-Arnold breathing down his neck.

LIVERPOOL 4-2 CHELSEA | ABRAHAM

61: GOAL! The substitutes combine instantly. Frank Lampard’s quite good at these changes…

Christian Pulisic is a confirmed baller. If we didn’t know it before – we do now. He skips past four Liverpool players and tees up Tammy Abraham to reduce the deficit. I doubt that’ll be the last goal of the night.

60: Championship 2019-20 season. Promoted: Leeds, West Brom. Play-offs: Brentford, Fulham, Cardiff, Swansea. Relegated: Wigan, Charlton, Hull City. It was outrageous drama from start to finish.

Triple change for Chelsea as Tammy Abraham, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic replace Olivier Giroud, Willian and Mason Mount.

57: These floodgates are open. Chelsea are falling to bits as champions Liverpool turn things up a notch. Mohamed Salah pinches the ball off the toes of Marcos Alonso before cutting inside and seeing his effort blocked. Antonio Rudiger clears the resulting corner

LIVERPOOL 4-1 CHELSEA | FIRMINO

55: GOAL! Any hope of a Chelsea revival has been well and truly extinguished.

It’s a ridiculously good cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold from the right and Roberto Firmino arrives in the middle to head in his first Premier League goal at Anfield since March 2019.

54: This last 15 minutes on Sky Sports News has been one of the best sporting experiences this year.

51: Must do better. Mohamed Salah collects a beautiful flicked pass from Robert Firmino and drives through the middle. Everyone expected the net to ripple but he’s poked it wide terribly. Nowhere near.

47: I’ve got one eye on the Championship, folks. It’s going completely mad at both ends of the table – as things stand WBA are going up! Barnsley are winning 2-1 away to Brentford.

45: Only bottom-placed Norwich City (12) have conceded more Premier League goals from corner situations than Chelsea (10) this season. Forget Kai Havertz – sign some defenders and a goalkeeper! We’re back underway at Anfield.

LIVERPOOL 3-1 CHELSEA

HT: Chelsea have the faintest whiff of hope away to the champions thanks to Olivier Giroud.

LIVERPOOL 3-1 CHELSEA | GIROUD

47: GOAL! Do Chelsea have a lifeline? Olivier Giroud has pulled one back for the visitors in first-half stoppage time. Alisson parries Willian’s snapshot in the air and the French forward slides in to convert from point-blank range.

LIVERPOOL 3-0 CHELSEA | WIJNALDUM

42: GOAL! This is turning into a procession for the Premier League champions! Georginio Wijnaldum makes it 3-0 before the break.

Chelsea, who are perhaps the worst side at defending set-pieces this season, show their credentials for that honour. They simply can’t clear their lines from a corner and the ball bounces kindly for Wijnaldum to fire home. Frank Lampard will be seething.

40: Chelsea should quite rightly be worried about facing Wolves on Sunday. They are a team that really needs to win to be sure of Europe next season. Chelsea lose and Leicester and Manchester United draw and Chelsea will be in the Europa League…

LIVERPOOL 2-0 CHELSEA | ALEXANDER-ARNOLD

38: GOAL! Well… he’s just incredible isn’t he. Trent Alexander-Arnold has doubled Liverpool’s lead with a cracking free-kick from distance. Curls it over the wall and safely into the top right-hand corner.

It all kicks off on the benches with Frank Lampard and Jurgen Klopp having a shouting match.

37: Think Andre Marriner’s got that wrong. Mateo Kovacic makes a great challenge on Sadio Mane and the referee waves play on. However, he’s heard the screams of Mane and then decided to award a free-kick. This could be controversial if Liverpool convert here…

34: The ball’s in the net from Mason Mount… but it will not count. The Chelsea star was a fraction offside when converting Reece James’ diagonal pass. Nice when VAR actually works.

31: Liverpool are running Chelsea ragged. In fact, Mohamed Salah is running Antonio Rudiger ragged. The Egyptian skips past him before cutting in from the right and winning a corner. The resulting header from Georginio Wijnaldum is saved.

28: Mohamed Salah finds Roberto Firmino, who looks to square it for Sadio Mane – well blocked. Why doesn’t he have a crack though? Is that a confidence issue or just the normal, selfless Brazilian?

26: “Chelsea will go no further with Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal,” says Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports. A change of goalkeeper certainly did the trick for Liverpool. I’ve heard a few rumours linking the Blues with Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak who, for my money, is the best stopper in world football. Just the £110million to trigger his release clause…

23: Drinks break. 30 seconds too late for Frank Lampard and his side…

LIVERPOOL 1-0 CHELSEA | KEITA

22: GOAL! Take a bow, Naby Keita! Liverpool have made the breakthrough – and it’s a sublime finish.

Willian gifts the ball to the midfielder, who collects before driving forward and thrashing an arrowed effort from 25-yards out that flies in off the underside of the bar. Glorious sound too.

20: Adam Lallana saying goodbye to Anfield tonight. He’ll be released when his contract expires after Sunday. Maybe he’ll get a few minutes tonight to bid farewell to the place. I wonder who will take a punt on him this summer. Everton perhaps…

17: Chelsea continue to play with confidence and assurance using the same tactics they employed against Manchester United on Sunday evening. Reece James cuts inside from the right and slashes his effort off target. Nice from Jorginho switching the play in the build up.

14: “Congrats Champions – YNWA – #Bahrain,” is the banner being flown by the plane. I wonder how much that cost – it’s been flying around for 10 minutes. Do you pay by the minute for one of these planes?

Anyway, Antonio Rudiger clearly blocks Mohamed Salah when he’s attempting a one-two but referee Andre Marriner isn’t interested.

11: Sky Sports still not showing us this plane. It’s extremely irritating – like a mosquito buzzing around your ear. Nasty fall over the advertising hoardings for Sadio Mane but he is up and about quickly.

8: I can hear a plane flying over Anfield. Is that a BANNER plane or a normal plan? Well Sky Sports aren’t showing me – I’ll find out later. Chelsea have a decent chance as Mason Mount arrives at the near post to glance Reece James’ cross over the crossbar. Should have done better with that.

5: Not… a… brilliant start at Anfield. All fairly slow and uneventful. And that, perhaps, will suit Chelsea who need just a single point to secure Champions League football next season. Of course, they could yet overturn a three-goal deficit against Bayern Munich next month… maybe not.

3: Well I’m sorry to say but the Championship is taking centre-stage tonight. It’s the final round of fixtures and it’s all going completely barmy. I’ll let you know who goes up and who goes down after the final whistle.

Back here at Anfield… the pitch looks dreadful. It looks like it’s caught chickenpox.

LIVERPOOL 0-0 CHELSEA

1: PEEP! YNWA has blasted from all corners of an empty Anfield and we’re underway folks. Chelsea gave their opponents a Guard of Honour if you were interested to know.
