The 76th Venice Film Festival sees a highly anticipated lineup compete for the coveted Golden Lion award, with many big Hollywood pictures making their premiere at the annual showcase.
The jury is led by Argentinian director Lucrecia Martel, and also features Canadian critic Piers Handling, Japanese actor Shinya Tsukamoto and British actress Stacy Martin, who landed her breakout role in 2013 as the younger version of sex addict Joe in the Lars Von Trier erotic drama Nyphomaniac.

On Thursday evening, the red carpet will roll out for the space drama Ad Astra, starring Brad and Liv Tyler.
Directed by James Gray, the movie centres around an astronaut who travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his father – a renegade scientist who poses an immense threat to humanity.
Proving to be a star-studded night, Laura Dern and Adam Driver’s comedy drama Marriage Story will also have its premiere on Thursday.
The flick, which also stars Scarlett Johansson and Ray Liotta, follows the journey of a couple going through a coast-to-coast divorce.
