Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards has revealed she ‘lost a lot of friends’ when she became famous, after winning The X Factor with her bandmates.

The 26-year-old rose to fame back in 2011, when she won the singing show alongside Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, with the girl group going from strength to strength for years afterwards.

However, her friendships definitely took a hit.

‘I’ve lost a lot of friends. Which is s**t,’ she admitted. ‘I feel like as soon as I made it in the group, I lost everybody. A bit of betrayal, a bit of b***hiness.’

Perrie added to Cosmopolitan: ‘It’s harder when you’re in the [music] industry, because you don’t have the time anymore and a lot of people don’t understand that.’

She went on to explain that she began to get self-conscious when she entered the music industry, pointing out that she and the girls weren’t used to that level of scrutiny.

However, now she’s learnt not to worry about what others think, only focusing on the people that matter to her.

‘When I’m around my friends and family in my house and I’ve got my boyfriend there I’m the happiest person alive,’ she said.

Perrie, who is currently spending the UK lockdown with her boyfriend, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, is enjoying the break from her Little Mix duties – although she’s definitely missing her girls.

When asked if they have been in touch, the 26-year-old said: ‘Yeah constantly, our group chat on WhatsApp is always popping off.

‘We’re so used to being together 24/7, we live in each other’s pockets. When we’re not together, it feels really weird,’ she explained on Good Morning Britain recently.

‘But it’s also quite nice to have a little bit of breathing space for once, because we never get time off. It’s just weird circumstances.’

Although we’re a little heartbroken over the new Little Mix album potentially being delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, at least the girls are having a well-earned break.
