Little Mix are said to be launching their own BBC talent show to compete with Simon Cowell’s The X Factor.

The girl band, consisting of Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson and Jade Thirwall, are reportedly in talks with the broadcaster for the new series which will see them hunt for the next big group.

‘This show is huge for Little Mix but it will be a massive blow for Simon,’ an insider said.

‘The X Factor’s viewing figures have fallen for years but this could be the nail in the coffin.

‘Saturday night needs a new singing competition to freshen it up and, with Little Mix involved, this could well be it.’

The insider continued to The Sun: ‘The girls will be mentoring youngsters. They’re hoping their experience will mean they can create a group which can forge a genuine career.

‘The groups will also be helped by people who have worked with Little Mix during their careers.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted BBC and Little Mix’s rep for comment.

Little Mix won X Factor back in 2011 and were mentored by Simon throughout their time on the show, going on to sign onto his record label Syco.

Last November, the girls were dropped from Syco after an alleged ‘row’ with their management company Modset just days before their album LM5 release.

They’ve since become the richest X Factor winners, earning a staggering £9million last year.

Simon has given X Factor a major revamp, with a brand new celebrity spin-off launching Saturday (13 October) and an all-stars version to follow.

A number of famous faces are set to take part in the upcoming series, ranging from Love Island’s Samira Mighty to Towie’s Megan McKenna, who was recently seen filming with Louis Walsh in her hometown of Essex.

The X Factor: Celebrity kicks off Saturday at 8.35pm on ITV.
