Lionel Messi notched up his 600th goal for Barcelona to help the La Liga champions take complete control of the Champions League semi-final tie against Liverpool.
Argentine superstar Messi scored a brace after former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez opened the scoring to give Barcelona a 3-0 lead going into the second leg at Anfield.
Title-chasing Liverpool produced a spirited performance for 75 minutes at the Nou Camp but Messi’s two late goals may have ended their hopes of reaching another Champions League final.
Jurgen Klopp’s side, who were beaten finalists last year, will attempt to overturn their three-goal deficit at home next Tuesday.
