Line Of Duty star Martin Compston, 36, plays Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott in the gripping BBC series, but it’s not just the drama that has been gathering people’s attention. The actor has revealed he has been contacted by multiple fans on his social media pages, with some even popping the question to him.
He revealed: “The Instagram DMs get a bit out of hand… a lot of stuff I wish I hadn’t seen. I need to stop looking at them.”
On what sort of messages he’s received, he added on The Jonathan Ross Show: “A lot of marriage proposals and a lot of proposals of other stuff from both sexes I must say.”
While many fans may be in awe of him, Martin went on to describe his character as “the overdressed w***** in the call centre”.
“He’s the guy who is having all the office affairs and no-one knows how,” he continued.

He said in an interview with Dermot O’Leary on BBC Radio 2: “A lot of stuff going on in that was going on, to some extent, in my personal life, so I was going through a lot.
“With that, I was in really great shape and then I went more or less into Line Of Duty.”
A now-deleted article suggested he was referring to the surrogacy storyline in the drama.
Taking to Twitter, he strongly denied the reports are true and said the information was “wrongly assumed”.
He added it had caused “needless distress” in his family “in what was already a challenging period”.
“No such issues were mentioned,” he added in a statement. “No attempt was made to verify it pre-publication”.
Martin went on to clarify: “Fortunately my wife and I never had to go through the pain of fertility problems but we have friends that have and it’s heartbreaking.”
“Sadly something so shamefully insensitive and completely without foundation has to [be] called out,” the actor added.
