Line Of Duty's Daniel Mays travels back in time in new Netflix drama

Line Of Duty and Ashes To Ashes star Daniel Mays had to travel back in time for his next TV project.

He is starring in a drama about a legendary DJ whose dead body is washed up some 20 years after his mysterious disappearance in Ibiza.

The 10-part series White Lines naturally involved flashbacks.

But instead of spending hours and hours in make-up to knock nearly two decades off his face, TV chiefs got a stand-in.

And his younger self is being played by 24-year-old Cold Feet hunk Cel Spellman.

Daniel heartily approved of the choice saying: “He’s very cool. We have the same energy.”

Filming has already taken place in Ibiza and Majorca for the Netflix drama, which is due to air in 2020.

And it has led to Daniel, 41 – currently starring in Sky One’s drama Temple – finally dipping his toe into social media and joining the world of Instagram.

He laughed: “A friend of mine told me to do it.

“They said if this new show is going out globally on Netflix, I really need to be on it.”
