LINE Of Duty fans have gone wild after Martin Compston teased the sixth season by saying that he’s “scared”.
The 35-year-old actor plays Detective Steve Arnott in the BBC One series, which is set to return to our screens in the New Year.
Taking to his Instagram page, Martin shared a photo of the front page of his new script alongside the caption: “Guys… I’m scared.”
All that is visible on the page is: “Line of Duty 6
“Written by Jed Mercurio
“Episode 1”.
Despite this, the star’s followers could hardly contain their excitement as they commented on the post.
One wrote: “You are scared??? I’ve just peed myself with excitement.”
Another added: “I hope [show creator] Jed is good this year – he’s been through the mill!
“Mind you – that’s a credit to you as he knows you can pull off anything he throws at you on screen.”
A third commented: “This has made my Christmas! So excited!”
The post comes just days after Jed Mercurio sent fans into a tizzy when he shared the first “plot clue” of the series on social media.
He shared a picture of Aussie Tim Tam biscuits being broken in two alongside the Line Of Duty hashtag and: “Series 6 Plot Clue No. 1.”
Followers were quick to point out that the biscuits are made by Arnott’s – the same surname as Martin’s investigator Steve – and the fan theories were flying.
One fan posted simply: “Arnott breaks.”
Another theorised: “The guy who created the biscuit is called Timothy “Tamworth” FLEMING. For a company called ARNOTTS.”
This referenced Steve’s colleague Kate Fleming.
