Linda Lusardi has no time for anyone not adhering to the rules of lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic and wants the police to start handing out fines.

The 61-year-old knows all too well the impact coronavirus can have, as she was hospitalised with Covid-19 and ‘taken to death’s door’, before making a recovery.

Linda is now recovering at home from the virus, after both she and husband Sam Kane contracted the flu-like infection, and she’s now suggesting that stricter measures should be put in place for those flouting lockdown measures.

The UK government has restricted movement and large gatherings by urging everyone to stay indoors and practice social distancing.

But, after it was reported the police had to break up 660 house parties in Manchester within the last two weeks, Linda has suggested the consequences of flouting lockdown rules is made harsher.

She wants the police to start slapping rule-breakers with £500 fines that is then donated to the NHS.

Speaking on Sky News, she said: ‘Those selfish people having parties, I think give them a blanket fine that goes to NHS.

‘Give them a £500 fine each when they’re not keeping to the rules. The more people go out, the more people have parties and think, “let’s play football, we’re not going to get it,” every time they go out they’re prolonging the lockdown.

‘[They’re] prolonging the virus staying in this country.’

Linda suggested: ‘Don’t give them a criminal record, hit them where it hurts and fine them £500 or go to their house and take something worth £500 and that should go straight to the NHS.’

Government advice says people should only leave their homes for essentials, to go to work or to exercise once a day. Schools have been closed until further notice and facilities like bars, pubs, restaurants, theatres and cinemas encouraging social gatherings have been shut down.

As many hit the park to sunbathe over the weekend, the government warned that lockdown measures will be made stricter if people continue to flout the guidelines.

After beating coronavirus, Linda has opened up about what it was like to have the virus and revealed her vomit turned blue and it felt like ‘elephant was sitting on you’.

Linda admits that she and husband Sam, 51, had to endure a ‘traumatic farewell’ as they were both taken to hospital with coronavirus as her symptoms worsened and they were separated.

She said: ‘There were some very dark moments where I didn’t think I was going to make it.’

There are currently more than 65,000 cases of coronavirus in the UK, with the number of deaths now reaching 8,000.
