Linda Lusardi has recalled the ‘traumatic’ moment she said a final goodbye to husband Sam Kane, as her coronavirus symptoms worsened.

The 61-year-old feared for her life after she was hospitalised with the condition, and opened up about the ‘dark moments’ she went through.

During an appearance on Sky News, she explained: ‘There were some very dark moments where I didn’t think I was going to make it.

‘All my vital signs were going down badly.’

‘I said to one of the young doctors, “Am I going to pull through this?”. He said, “You’re 61, we don’t know what we’re dealing with here.”’

Remembering the chat, Linda revealed she reached out to husband, Sam, who was also battling Covid-19 in the same hospital.

‘I texted Sam, who was in another part of the hospital and said, “I don’t know if I’m going to make it, can you come up”.’ she continued.

A nurse ‘took pity’ on the 51-year-old, giving him a gown and mask before he went in to see her.

The model said: ’He gave me a pep talk about staying positive and “get back for the kids, you can’t leave us”.

‘It was very traumatic. Then he was taken out and the next day he went home.’

Sam previously spoke the terrifying moment in a chat with the Sun, confessing he had to be sedated by doctors after hearing how bad his wife was feeling.

’I got a message saying, “I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to talk to you again” and I just fell apart,’ he said.

‘I was screaming because I thought I was going to lose her.

‘They had to give me an injection to calm me down. But they managed to get me up there to see Linda.’

And Linda – who is now back home and recovering alongside her family – admitted there were times they ‘prayed for death’ as the symptoms became unbearable.

’It got to the stage where both of us were praying we wouldn’t wake up because it was so bad,’ she told the publication

‘We just looked at each other and said, “Look, we can’t take this anymore”,’ Sam agreed. ‘We just thought that if we don’t wake up, it’s not the end of the world.’
