Lily Collins might be the daughter of Genesis drummer and singer Phil Collins, but she didn’t realise her dad was famous until she saw his face on someone’s T-shirt.

The actress, 31, revealed the moment that she realised Phil, 69, was actually kind of a big deal on a trip to Disneyland with the family.

She told Radio Times: ‘I was being carried on my dad’s shoulders when this man started to walk towards us.

‘He had my dad’s face on his T-shirt and I didn’t quite get it. Then he saw my dad and asked for a photo — and it was a really weird moment.

‘I was thinking, “Why does he want a picture of my dad, and why is my dad on his T-shirt?”. Slowly but surely, I started to understand.’

Lily, who Phil shares with his second wife Jill Tavelman who he was married to from 1984 until 1996, would not want to star in a biopic about his life in the future.

She added: ‘I think I would want to keep that part of my life separate, but I’d be really fascinated to find out who they’d choose to play him.’

Lily last week revealed that her boyfriend and fellow Game Of Thrones star Charlie McDowell, 37, had proposed to her.

The couple, who confirmed their relationship last August, shared photos of Charlie getting down on one knee in Sedona in Arizona.

Lily wrote: ‘I’ve been waiting my lifetime for you and I can’t wait to spend our lifetime together…’

Charlie also shared a photo of Lily proudly showing off her new ring, adding: ‘In a time of uncertainty and darkness you have illuminated my life. I will forever cherish my adventure with you.’
