Lily Allen appears to have deleted her Twitter account after linking Boris Johnson’s election victory with racism.
The vocal Labour supporter retweeted a post which said people who voted Tory voted for “less brown people”. The post added those who backed the Conservative Party had voted for “kids to die with no healthcare”.
On Instagram yesterday morning, she also posted an image of a sad face emoji and wrote: “Some say it was Brexit, some day it was Jeremy, personally, and I know no one wants to hear it, I think that racism and misogyny runs so so deep in this country and that Boris won because of his attitude towards those things and not in spite of them.”
Amid a series of social media posts, Allen also said greater attention should be paid to “unchecked targeted bespoke propaganda”, adding: “We need to start taking this seriously.”
Her rant was met with anger by many, with one person calling her a “privilege-denying clown”.
Allen hit back, saying: “Oh f*** off I shout out my privilege every five mins. It’s because of my privilege and proximity to it that I know what inherently greedy c***s we all are. I KEEP TRYING TO TELL YOU.”
Good Morning Britain co-presenter Piers Morgan responded to Allen’s comments on Twitter, writing: “I think I speak for Britain when I say if @lilyallen doesn’t like it here, why doesn’t she f*** off?”
Her Twitter account has now been deleted, with the message “this account doesn’t exist” appearing on her page, however her Instagram is still active.
The singer’s last Instagram story reads: “So f***ing exhausted by the f***ry. People are so nasty.”
Last month, Allen shared a video showing her emotional reaction to the Labour manifesto on the day it was released.
Posted on social media site Tik Tok, Allen had used a crying filter which had some believing she was shedding tears of happiness over the political document.
