The British patriotic song originated from the poem Rule, Britannia! by James Thomson and set to music by Thomas Arne in 1740.

In recent years, the anthem has been met with controversy, with many perceiving it to be jingoistic and outdated.

Rule, Britannia! begins the Remembrance Day ceremony music, with the order of songs remaining largely unchanged since 1930.

Lily shared an image to her Instagram account of a story about her wanting the song to be banned.
