Lil Nas X has opened up about the highs and lows of the biggest year of his life.

And it’s certainly been a wild ride for the 20-year-old, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill.

From picking up a load of awards and making history with Billboard’s longest-running number one song to publicly coming out as gay.

He took to social media to open up about the effect that’s all had on him.

‘I usually deal with my sad times in private because I don’t like for my fans or family to feel sorry for me,’ he tweeted. ‘This year had a lot of very high ups and extremely low downs.

‘When u get to that hotel room and it’s just you, you do a lot of thinking. Small things become so BIG.’

He then followed it up with a second tweet, featuring a special message for his fans and anyone struggling with the same things.

‘I like to pretend hate and shit don’t get to me, but subconsciously it eats away at me,’ Lil Nas X tweeted. ‘Feeling like u have the world and knowing it can all go away at any time is scary.

‘With all this being said I want anybody who cared enough to read this to just live in the moment.

‘Love [you] guys.’

Earlier this year, Lil Nas X announced he was taking a break from music and cancelled his shows.

Announcing the news of his hiatus on Twitter, the Panini hitmaker wrote to his three million followers: ‘It’s been a wild last 7 months and im ready to take a little time off.’

He went onto reveal that he’ll no longer be performing at TwitchCon in San Diego, California, on Saturday, and at the Sandbox Music Festival in Mesa, Arizona, on Sunday.

The star continued: ‘Sorry to everyone attending twitchcon or the sandbox music festival, i will not be there. i love u guys and will make it up to you some way [sic].’

We hope you’re alright, Lil Nas.
