Life on Mars writer to host live viewing party revealing plans for Sam Tyler’s ‘final chapter’

LIFE on Mars writer Matthew Graham will host a live viewing party outlining plans for Sam’s “final chapter.”

The show’s co-creator has said that fans can expect details on the show’s upcoming final chapter this week.

The drama first hit screens way back in 2006 and had a second series the following year, which received rave reviews.

Matthew, 52, wrote several episodes of the hit series and also wrote the follow-up Ashes to Ashes, recently tweeted that he was working on another story.

He tweeted: “now then — if you are tuning into the #LifeOnMarsLive tweet sesh this Wed April 1st at 7pm UK time – you will be first to hear details of what we are planning for the Final Chapter of the LoM story!!”

This was received well by the show’s diehard fans, who let the television writer know how they felt about it in the comments.

Graham plans to not only shed light on the production of the original series, but also offer some insight on the planned reboot.

Life on Mars follows Sam Tyler (John Simm), a Manchester police officer from the year 2006 who bizarrely wakes up all the way back in the 1970s after he was involved in an accident.

While there, he works for DCI Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister) as a detective inspector, who goes on to become the lead of sequel series Ashes to Ashes.

It is still unknown if either actor will return to their roles for another chapter, but Simm has previously said he would be “open to the idea” of a Life on Mars revival.

Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes are available to stream on BBC iPlayer
