Life after death: Woman claims Jesus Christ 'comforted' her after head injury

The woman, who only introduced herself as Mary, is certain her experience of the supernatural is genuine. Mary came to believe in the afterlife after suffering a head injury more than 20 years ago. At the time, Mary was on her bicycle when she lost control and was thrown off and hit her head.

She believes she was instantly taken to another realm where she was held by Jesus himself.

Such events are known as near-death experiences (NDEs) and are often recalled by people who stood on the brink of death.

Most medical experts, however, believe there are natural explanations for why NDEs happen.

In this case, Mary said: “Experience was definitely real, I played the scene over and over in my mind.

“I wanted to go back and was angry for not having died.”

Mary detailed her bizarre experience to the Near Death Experience Research Foundation (NDERF).

She said: “I opened my eyes to the most beautiful brightly lit place – green grass, a pond/lake trees but this light eclipsed all.

“I looked around and realized I was sitting on a man’s lap, who was dressed in white robes.

“He had dark hair. At first, I thought it was my deceased father in his younger years.

The researchers said: “Currently, there is no definitive explanation for why near-death experiences happen.

“But ongoing research still strives to understand this enigmatic phenomenon.

“Whether paranormal or not, near-death experiences are extremely important.

“They provide meaning, hope, and purpose for many people, while offering an appreciation of the human desire to survive beyond death.”
