Liam Payne says One Direction have been ‘speaking a lot’ as he teases 10 year anniversary reunion

Liam Payne has teased a potential One Direction reunion in 2020 to celebrate the band’s 10th anniversary.

The band were put together by Simon Cowell on The X Factor in 2010, going on to become one of the world’s biggest pop acts before going on hiatus in 2016.

While Zayn Malik has been in less contact with his former bandmates since leaving in 2015, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Payne have stayed in touch, with the “Strip That Down” singer telling The Sun that plans are underway for the group to commemorate their anniversary in July.

“We’ve got a 10-year anniversary coming up so we’ve all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks which has been really nice,” he said.

“To hear a lot of people’s voices and seeing old content and different things that we haven’t seen for a long time or never seen before, it’s very interesting.”

Payne continued: “There’s a number of different things that we are all working on to try and make happen and people are forwarding emails around. But more than anything it’s just been a real good time for us to connect together again.”

One Direction’s former members have all released solo music since leaving the band, with Liam admitting last year that he felt they needed at least two years to work on their own projects before staging a reunion.

“I think at some point we will get back together,” he said. “I think we will, for sure. I don’t know when that is yet but, all I know is there is at least two years while everyone’s just released new music where you have to go and promo and do all of that.”
