ONE DIRECTION superstar Liam Payne has given his most detailed insight in to his short lived relationship with Cheryl Tweedy.
The Strip That Down singer, 28 says that he and Cheryl, 38, started to struggle after the birth of their son, Bear Grey Payne in 2017.
Liam says that having a child “ruined a relationship but for all the right reasons”.

Liam said: “She is the best mum in the world. I couldn’t ask for someone better.
“I get to take my son to school one or two times a week and it’s the best thing. The relationship we have now as friends has only grown more.
“We broke up for a reason and now she gives me full autonomy of my life and to do what I do and I know he’s [Bear’s] taken care of.”
Admitting he struggled becoming a young dad aged just 23-years-old, Liam said: “I like to talk to other new dads. You don’t know what is coming and it’s different.
“And to be honest with you, it ruined a relationship at that point but for all the right reasons. I was so excited for him to be born that I was actually worried if I wouldn’t love him enough.”
Heaping praise on Cheryl for taking a step back from the limelight to raise the youngster, Liam said: “He is all she cares about and I couldn’t ask for more.
“My life now is his. My money is his. I have several companies he can run if he wants one day or he can sell… but right now he’s only five so we have a long way to go.”
Going into detail about the first 24 hours of becoming parents, Liam told Logan Paul’s podcast that Cheryl had “haemorrhaged quite badly giving birth” so was asleep for most of the first day.
He added: “So it was me and a baby in the room and I had to take care of it. It was fun.”
However, while he insists he will support Bear in whatever he wants to be, Liam worries he will follow in his and Cheryl’s footsteps into the public eye.
He said: “The scariest thing for me is him waking up one day and saying I want to be famous.
I’ve protected his face since he was young. I chose to be famous, well a singing career, when I was 14… I know you can’t pop the lid back on.”
Cheryl and Liam started dating in February 2016 – eight years after Liam auditioned in front of Cheryl on The X Factor.
A year later they welcomed their first child – though keen to keep the tot out of the limelight, never confirmed Cheryl was pregnant despite her turning on Christmas lights in London with a massive baby bump.
By February 2018 rumours swirled the romance was on the slide – despite a very public display of affection at the Brit Awards.
In June 2018 Liam and Cheryl released a joint statement, confirming they had gone their separate ways.
Since then Cheryl is thought to have remained single while Liam went on to date – and later propose to – One Direction fan turned model Maya Henry.
The couple split for the second time earlier this year – with Liam insisting he isn’t good at being in relationships and wanted to work on himself.
He’s now dating model Aliana Mawla.
