One Direction’s hiatus could be over ‘sooner rather than later’ if Liam Payne has anything to do with it – and it’ll be music to the ears of Directioners everywhere.

Liam, 28, performed at Tom Parker’s In My Head charity concert where Tom reunited with The Wanted for the first time in seven years, and McFly who also recently got back together were also performing.

Seeing The Wanted get back together appeared to whet Liam’s appetite to get One Direction back together as he admitted he wants it to happen as soon as possible.

Liam told Bang Showbiz: ‘I spoke to Louis [Tomlinson] about it the other day and we were saying it has to be sooner rather than later. They’ve all got their bandmates here and I’m here on my own!’

The band, which consists of Liam, Louis, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik, went on an indefinite hiatus in 2015 and fans have been calling for them to reunite ever since.

All five have released solo music in the interim as well as other projects, including Liam who has voiced a character in the upcoming movie Ron’s Gone Wrong, as well as recording the track Sunshine for the soundtrack.

Liam revealed that he can’t wait to show the movie to his son Bear, who he shares with ex Cheryl, but isn’t sure how excited Bear will be about it.

He joked: ‘I’m gonna have a little private screening with Bear but I don’t know how good the attention span is of a four year old!’

He added: ‘[It was] definitely a dream for me. It was super, super cool to be let behind a veil to see how all your favourite films are made.

‘My journey with it was quite strange because the movie had finished by the time I did my character so I was seeing snippets of the film and having to overlay snippets on top of it. But it was a fun process. I liked it.’
