  • Reciprocity Corp.’s CEO confirmed on Twitter that the company will pay $1.5M USD for the franchise fee.
  • This is the second time LGD Gaming will co-brand an esports team. The company currently runs a Dota 2 and FIFA Online team in partnership with Paris Saint-Germain F.C.

On Sept. 29, Chinese esports organization LGD Gaming announced an international partnership with North American esports organization Reciprocity Corp. The two organizations have set up a joint esports team called LGD.REC to compete in China’s top CrossFire franchise leagues: the CrossFire Pro League (CFPL) on PC, and CrossFire Mobile League (CFML) on mobile.

According to the announcement, the goal of this partnership is to make LGD.REC become “the most internationally oriented and commercially operated esports team in China.” Outside of China, Team Reciprocity competes in seven esports titles including Call of Duty, PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG), and Rainbow Six Siege.

On the same day, Tencent Esports hosted a CrossFire franchise league ceremony in Shenzhen, China, announcing ten teams including LGD.REC to compete in the CFPL and CFML Fall Season. Scheduling for league matches and tournaments was not disclosed at the time of writing.

Tencent first announced its franchising plans for CrossFire at its Tencent Global Esports Summit in June, and started the bidding process for slots. Sources close to the league told The Esports Observer that the minimum franchise fee for a slot is ¥10M RMB ($1.41M USD). Chad Larsson, CEO of Reciprocity Corp., claimed on his personal Twitter that the company paid $1.5M for attending CFPL.

CrossFire is a first-person shooter game developed by South Korean game publisher Smilegate, with Tencent Games exclusively distributing the game in China. According to Tencent, CrossFire has 650M registered players globally and over 8M ACU. In July, Smilegate hosted its own third-party tournament series, the World Cyber Games (WCG), in Xi’an, China, which featured CrossFire as a medal event.

For LGD Gaming, this is not the first time that the company partnered with an international organization. In 2018 April, LGD Gaming partnered with French soccer club Paris Saint-Germain for their co-branded Dota 2 team PSG.LGD
