Lewis Hamilton has opened up about struggling with his weight, while showing off his ‘imperfections’.

Taking to Instagram, the F1 star posted a topless selfie with fans, posing in a pair of floral boxers in what looked to be his hotel bathroom.

Alongside the upload, shared with his 12.9million followers, the 34-year-old explained he has never been happy with his image.

‘Staying in shape is something so many of us struggle with,’ he wrote alongside the snap, which has racked up a whopping 474k likes at the time of writing.

‘My weight fluctuates every week with all this travelling. One week I bulk up and then other weeks I lose muscles and put on fat. Can honestly say I’ve never been 100% happy with my look, that’s why I just keep working at it.’

The Mercedes driver also insisted he is choosing to ‘keep fighting’ and ‘working through’ the tough days.

‘I have days I can’t be assed but then the days I can are so rewarding,’ he continued. ‘Just want to let you know that whilst you are perfect just the way you are, if you want change only you can do it.

‘Hiring a trainer to walk you through it can help but ultimately it’s how much you want it. That’s why I don’t actually have a trainer. That’s my stubborn side.

‘So here’s me, imperfections and all flaws but I chose to keep fighting and working on being a better me. #youcan #investinyourself.’

And fans rushed to praise Lewis for his honesty.

‘Very important words for me and lot of people,’ one commented.

‘Commitment and passion go a long way in the journey. Good on you for being true to your core @lewishamilton.’

‘So much respect,’ a fan posted.

While another added: ‘Biggest inspiration.’
