Lewis Capaldi fans have been left in stitches over his alternative acceptance speech at the Brit Awards.
The West Lothian singer scooped Best New Artist, the night’s first award.
Hilarious video footage shows the 23-year-old sauntering up to the stage at London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday night to accept the gong with a bottle of Red Stripe beer in hand.
After embracing BBC Radio 1 DJ, Clara Amfo and music industry pal Niall Horan, a dumbstruck Lewis pointed out to droves of cheering fans before having another gulp of beer.
The Someone You Loved singer then made a brief speech before he darted off the stage.
However, fans were unable to hear what he said as it was muted by organisers creating confusion among viewers watching at home with most assuming Lewis used a few swear words.
Puzzled viewers took to social media in a bid to find out what exactly he said.
One user wrote: “So what did Lewis say to get muted?”
Another added: “What did Lewis Capaldi say while accepting his award?”
A third tweeted: “I switched over just as Lewis Capaldi won an award but it was muted.
“I guess he swore!”
Others praised the Scots superstar for his demeanour at the annual awards bash.
One posted: “Lewis Capaldi going to get his award with a bottle of red stripe.
“Absolute lad, he’s just amazing.”
Another wrote: “Lewis Capaldi is officially nuts, I would love to party with him.”
A third added: “Lewis Capaldi doesn’t give a damn does he?”
The singer was nominated for four gongs.
Soon after taking home Best New Artist, he was pipped to the post by rapper Stormzy who scooped Best Male.
Missing out on the coveted award sparked anger among fans.
On Twitter one follower commented: “Raging Lewis Capaldi didn’t win the best male.
“There is absolutely no way Stromzy is better than Lewis Capaldi.”
Another added: “How did Stormzy beat Lewis Capaldi?”
A third posted: “Lewis Capaldi was robbed.”
