Lewis Capaldi says he'd be selling fish if he hadn't become a global star

Lewis Capaldi says if it hadn’t been for music, he could have been selling fish for a living.

But the singer-songwriter admits it would have been soul-destroying – as he can’t stand fish.

Lewis, 23, said: “My dad is a fishmonger. He has a fish shop – KP’s Fresh Fish in Bearsden, near Glasgow – so I’d probably work there. But I hate the smell of fish and can’t look at prawns.”

Luckily, his debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, remained at the top of the UK album chart for six weeks.

His Someone You Loved single holds the record for the longest number of weeks, 31, in the top 10 by a British act.
