Lewis Capaldi dishes out chicken bakes in Greggs to shocked fans


Lewis Capaldi has delighted fans with an unexpected visit to a Greggs store on Saturday morning.

The Scots chart-topper dished out chicken bakes and met punters in the branch in Middlesbrough, where he’s performing at the Radio 1 Big Weekend.

Posting on his Instagram story, the singer showed off his new Greggs uniform and declared he was lucky that “everything suits me”.

The down-to-earth singer songwriter, 22, posed for videos and selfies with fans, reports Teesside Live .

As he chatted with fans outside the Marton Shops branch, was asked if he’d enjoyed a steak bake.

“Nah, I had a tuna crunch actually,” he replied.

He modelled his new hat before declaring how lucky it is that “everything suits me”

Kerri O’Gormley, from Skelton, met the star and said: “He was singing, acting silly – jamming with his hairnet on – being his usual self. He’s hilarious, so down to earth.”

 

And fans on social media have exploded with excitement since news of his appearance started to spread.

One fan tweeted: “So last night Hannah Montana went for a stroll around Park End and this morning Lewis Capaldi is serving sausage buns at Marton Greggs what is actually going on.”

And another said: “Seeing a photo of Lewis Capaldi working in Greggs in Marton shops has made my day.”

Capaldi’s LP, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, scored 89,506 combined sales within its first week, beating the previous opening week record for the year so far by Ariana Grande, according to the Official Charts Company.

Grande previously held the accolade for the fastest-selling album of the year with Thank U, Next, which achieved 65,214 combined sales within its first week in February.

Capald also outperformed the rest of the current top 10 combined with his ballad-led album.
