Lewis Capaldi cheers on The Voice winner as she covers his No1 hit in final

Scottish singing sensation Lewis Capaldi may have given Molly Hocking the final support she needed to be crowned The Voice winner last night.

The 22-year-old from Whitburn in West Lothian watched on with pride as Hocking, 18, beautifully covered his hit Someone You Loved for judges Olly Murs, Sir Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson and Will.i.am.

Capaldi, who regularly leaves his social media followers in stitches laughing, watched along, urging fans to back Hocking.

The Scottish singer could be seen shouting “On yerself” and “Come on Molly”, as well as recording himself singing along during the chorus.

He wrote: “Yaaaaaas come on cheers Molly Hocking for covering ‘Someone You Loved’ on The Voice final!”

Plenty of fans were quick to comment on the singer’s humour, with one even suggesting that he “needs a tv show”.

Hocking secured the first success for coach Olly Murs on the show – bagging herself a life-changing record deal after a gruelling series of battles, knockouts and live shows.

The singer, from Cornwall, joins the company of fellow teenage contestant and last year’s winner Ruti Olajugbagbe, who was also 18 when she sealed victory.

Hocking beat competition from Bethzienna Williams, Jimmy Balito and Deana Walmsley in the final.

The singer said: “Someone pinch me. All I can say is I thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I’m shocked. I love you all.”

She added to Murs: “I am so, so glad that you’ve stuck with me through this. You are my inspiration.”

Earlier we told how Capaldi appeared on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.

The Scots singer helped rustle up breakfast for his fellow guests including Love Island star Dani Dyer and writer Ben Elton.

And he won over hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer by presenting them with a cake topped with a photograph of his face, telling them he made it himself with sponge and ‘cake stuff’.
