Lewis Capaldi and Paige Turley share sweet text message exchange


Paige Turley has been congratulated on her Love Island win by ex boyfriend Lewis Capaldi.

Scotland’s first ever champion of the ITV2 reality dating show revealed today that the pair have shared a sweet text message exchange – but haven’t had the chance to catch up properly yet.

Paige told BBC Radio Scotland’s Calum MacDonald she text her famous former flame last week to congratulate him on his recent Brit Awards success, and he duly responded with a similar message.

The 22-year-old said: “I text him and said congrats for his Brit Awards and he text back to congratulate me (on Love island).

“It’s been so hectic since I got back so I’ve not had the chance to catch up with anyone but we are still good friends.”

Paige , who took the Love Island crown and £50k prize money along with boyfriend Finn Tapp, split from megastar Lewis when she was 18.

Though she was working in a Glasgow shop before she entered the villa, it was singing that was always her passion and led to her first foray into fame when she auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent in 2012.

So she’s managed to take the global success of the Someone You Loved singer in her stride.

Paige, from Fauldhouse, added: “It’s not weird for me that he’s famous, I knew him before so it feels normal, he’s always just been Lewis.

“But we’re both flying the flag for West Lothian now, so that’s a bit surreal.”

Reflecting on her busy two weeks since returning back in the UK last Wednesday, Paige said she’s happy to take her time before making any big decisions about her future.

She said: “It’s been so hectic but I’m having so much fun.

“I got to go home for two days last week, which was lovely, I got to see family, which was really good.

“But apart from that we’re just living day-to-day.

“Hopefully I’ll pick up the singing again but until then there is loads more exciting stuff in the pipeline, so many oppportunities.”

The humble reality star also getting used to being as familiar a face up here as her popstar ex.

She explained: “I’m normal but people recognise me more and want pictures.

“I have no idea how I’ve managed to blag this!”

And though she’s looking forward to happily ever after with Finn, Paige hinted it’s her friendships with fellow islanders, especially Shaughna, that ensured she made more than one love match in South Africa.

She added: “It was amazing to be in a bubble for six weeks, I found love and lifelong friendships!”
