Let’s Make-Up: the beauty products to know about this week

There has been a seismic shift in our lives over the last couple of months (anyone else suffering from the seven-week itch this week?)

The worlds which we’d carefully constructed and designed have been very much upended and share only a semblance of similarity with the way things once were.

But while we may still be treading lightly in unchartered territory, it would appear that we’re at least showing a vested interest in looking after ourselves, as newly-released figures show that health and beauty sales saw a vertiginous increase of 82 per cent in the month of April. If ever we needed an explanation as to what many of the great British public are getting up to at this time, it would seem that indulging and caring for our mind, body and soul are very much front runners. Or perhaps we’re just trying to whip our misbehaving skin into shape.

Whether you’re a cosmetic convert and new to the game or a seasoned beauty buff looking to keep abreast of the best in beauty, these are the new products we’re loving this week.

NARS Bronzing Collection

Nars Bronzing Collection, from £23, shop it here

Nars’ Laguna bronzer earned cult-status for good reason. The matte, warm-toned bronzer faultlessly manages to emulate a glow reminiscent of that offered by the halcyon days of yore. Sensing a need for a surplus of bronzer during this kooky chapter in our lives, the brand has reimagined Laguna with new packaging and has also created siblings for it. The new shades include San Juan, which is a light golden shimmery bronzer and a richer, more mahogany-coloured shade called Punta Cana as well as an oil-infused lip tint. Perfect for sun-seekers who may be missing the real thing.

Glow Recipe Avocado Retinol Sleeping Mask

Glow Recipe Avocado Retinol Sleeping Mask, £23, buy now

K beauty brand Glow Recipe became the underdog of the beauty world when it launched in 2017 with its now revered Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask, which imparts a glowy burst of hydration like no other. Its two new launches flirt with the world of retinol and are a wonderful way to introduce the ingredient into your skincare regime.

Named the Avocado Retinol Sleeping Mask and its counterpart designed for the delicate eye area, the masks are teaming with avocado (to nourish and hydrate), encapsulated retinol to gently renew the skin and PHA (poly hydroxy acid) to exfoliate dead skin cells. On the hunt to perk up tired and dull skin? Look no further.

111SKIN Reparative Beauty Dose

111SKIN Reparative Beauty Dose, £85, buy now

I fear I may not be alone in the proclivity I’ve developed towards snacking. Snacks of any shape or size have been readily welcomed into my cupboard and stomach in recent weeks and my skin has paid a heavy price. In a bid to intervene with some sort of damage control, I began taking 111SKIN’s Reparative Beauty Dose supplements a week ago and my skin is already glowing. Like, seriously glowing. The supplements contain a buffet of skin-loving vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C and E (to maintain the skin’s vitality), and coenzyme Q10, which helps to supplement optimal cellular function.

It’s no exaggeration to say that these supplements have become my ally, particularly during a period where my skin has not been behaving itself. Take three a day with a meal and just watch your skin’s luminosity increase by the day.

OUAI Daily Care Shampoo and Conditioner

OUAI Daily Care hair range, £22, shop it here

Hairstylist to the stars Jen Atkin founded her hair product line in 2016, after being inspired by Parisian insouciance and struggling to find products that celebrated ‘real hair.’ Fast forward four years and Atkin has re-imagined her initial range of shampoos and conditioners. Enter the new and very much improved, Daily Care range. Designed for your hair’s texture – choose from fine, medium or thick – the simple yet intelligent range is specially formulated for your specific hair type’s complaints.

The Fine Hair range fortifies the strength in the hair because of the biotin it’s full of (otherwise known as vitamin B7), which will retain each follicle’s strength to prevent breakage. The Medium Hair range has kumquat fruit extract, full of vitamin A, B and C, to leave hair shiny and supple, and the Thick Hair range is bursting with shea butter and lots of avocado oil for intense nourishment for coarse locks.
