The trailer for Disney’s live-action remake of Mulan has dropped and we can’t wait to defeat the Huns.

We finally got a sneak peek of the film – directed by Niki Caro – on Thursday, and it’s as action-packed as it should be but without the singing.

Sorry, everyone, we’re not going to be able to sing I’ll Make A Man Out Of You at the top of our lungs as they just get straight to the point and start training for the war.

Like the movie, the trailer showed the Emperor of China ordering one man from every family to join the Imperial Army and protect the country from invaders.

As her father is poorly and getting old, Hua Mulan takes his place and begins the adventure we all loved growing up.

‘Loyal, brave and true,’ she says in the trailer. ‘It is my duty to protect my family.’

Bori Khan is played Jason Scott Lee while the one and only Jet Li portrays the emperor.

Nobody is playing Mushu because Mushu doesn’t exist in this live-action movie and, no, we’re not over it.

Make a note of this: dishonour on you, dishonour on your cow.

However, we are all going to have to accept the fact that the new Mulan never intended to follow the original 1998 film frame-by-frame.

Although it has the same basic story, it focuses more on the action-drama.

Tzi Ma, who plays Mulan’s father in the film, has revealed he thinks the 2020 remake is ‘superior’ to the original.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Tzi said: ‘This is not a remake of the animation, so that would probably be disappointing for some people out there, because the animation was so well-received.

‘I believe this live-action film is superior to the animation, very importantly because of the leadership. Niki Caro is the director.

‘She’s bringing in this woman’s point of view, which it needs to be because this movie is about a woman warrior.’

Mulan is due out 27 March 2020.
