‘Let me answer’ Dominic Raab in furious clash with Louise Minchin over FactCheckUK

BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin brought Dominic Raab onto the sofa this morning to discuss the latest election debate, and a number of other topics. Specifically, Minchin was eager to discuss the Conservative’s CCHQ Press Office Twitter account, whose name changed to FactCheckUK during the debate.

Minchin brought the Twitter account’s new look to the forefront of the graphics, pointing out how it looked.

She pointed at the screen, saying: “It changed to this!”

Raab simply smiled and pointed out the bio of the account, which read: “‘Fact checking Labour from CCQH.’”

Minchin was adamant, however, as she pointed to the graphic once again, saying: “Look at the top here – ‘Fact Check UK!’”

Raab continued by saying once again: “Yes, from CCHQ,” prompting Minchin to continue: “Yes, but it’s small isn’t it?”

Losing his cool a little, Raab exasperatedly said: “Louise, come on…”

But Minchin wasn’t letting it go, as she jumped in once again yelling: “No you come on! Would you agree that’s misleading?”

“Well,” he smirked. “Pause for a moment and I’ll answer the question.

“We’ve had all sorts of nonsense thrown at the Conservatives, we’re going to be in the process – one of the things we learned from the last election [is] having a really good instant rebuttal from the nonsense.”

“Well we’ve talked to Labour,” Minchin began, before Raab cut in once again.

He said: “Well let me answer the question! This is why we have an instant response.”

Minchin continued: “Why have you got to dress it up like this?”

Raab went on: “We’re making it clear that we’re holding Labour to account for the nonsense that they systematically and serially put out to conservatives.”

Earlier on in the show Dan Walker found himself in a fiery clash with Dawn Butler.

Discussing Jeremy Corbyn’s stance on the Brexit plan, Butler was adamant his plan was clear.

Butler asked: “Is that not clear though?” But Walker disagreed, saying: “I’ll tell you why it’s not clear!

“We’ve spoken to the likes of Diane Abbott, Keir Starmer, Emily Thornberry – and they’re all in the position where you will renegotiate a deal with the EU, which is a promise, then, let’s say that option is on the table to leave.
