Lennie James confirmed today that Fear The Walking Dead is preparing shut down production for a month as its cast goes into quarantine to battle the coronavirus.

The Save Me actor stars as Morgan Jones in the series, which serves as a prequel to popular zombie drama The Walking Dead.

Talking to Lorraine Kelly this morning, the 54-year-old admitted that whilst filming the show in Austin, Texas, he’s getting ready to take quite a big break, thanks to the growing nature of the coronavirus pandemic.

‘We’re shut down for a month,’ Lennie confirmed. ‘We’re preparing to go into quarantine. Austin has had two confirmed cases and no deaths, there are very few tests available.’

The spin-off series is currently filming its fifth series, which has been put on pause.

Luckily, however, it seems that their mother show, the OG Walking Dead, already made provisions for the coronavirus outbreak in its filming schedule.

Well, it is based around a zombie apocalypse – you’ve got to think of these things, right?

When chatting with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Angela Kang opened up on their plans during the pandemic.

‘I’m a tech-head,’ she told the publication: ‘We do video conferences regularly. On a normal basis, I’m very stringent about, “If you’re sick, don’t come into the office.”

‘The other day, I was on the phone and in meetings from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., all day straight. I did Skype, I did FaceTime, I did Zoom, I did remote reviewing of VFX. We are very well set up to work remotely. That’s been fine for us.’

The writer said that she’s in regular contact with AMC and is already working with her team remotely on a breaking story for the next season.

Just recently, fans spotted a spooky coincidence between coronavirus and the zombie franchise after a coronavirus patient was diagnosed in the same hospital where Rick Grimes woke up to the apocalypse.

While the TV series is set in Atlanta, the original comic books saw the hero awake in Kentucky’s Harrison Memorial Hospital.

And now, the same hospital where the comics are set has issued a statement explaining how a patient has tested positive for COVID-19.

Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1. Fear The Walking Dead is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
