Leicester City have slapped a £90million price tag on defender Harry Maguire.

The England international is a target for both Manchester United and Manchester City this summer after another impressive campaign with the Foxes.

Jose Mourinho was keen to sign the former Hull defender last summer but United baulked at Leicester’s £75m valuation of the centre-back.

United’s refusal to meet Leicester’s demands ultimately led to Mourinho’s departure and the irony will not be lost on the Portuguese coach that old foe Pep Guardiola is now keen to sign Maguire.

Guardiola reportedly views Maguire as a long-term replacement for Vincent Kompany but the Sun claim City and United will have to smash their club transfer records to sign the defender this summer.

Leicester are said to be demanding £90m for Maguire, which would top the £75m Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk when they made the Dutchman the most expensive defender of all-time in 2018.

Brendan Rodgers, for his part, is desperate to keep hold of Maguire and the Foxes doubt City or United will produce the £90m fee required.

Maguire was keen on a move to Old Trafford last summer but signed a new improved deal with Leicester after being denied a transfer.

With four years left on his deal, Leicester feel they are in a strong position and are confident of getting a world record fee for a defender should he leave.
