Legal firm's double hire strengthen family law team

Law firm BTO has hired senior Associate Morven Douglas and solicitor Brittany Thomas to its family law team.

Douglas, an accredited specialist in family law and a trained collaborative lawyer, moves to the firm’s Glasgow office from Blackadders having practised family law exclusively for 16 years.

She has specialist expertise in international cases, such as child relocation and has worked for the Scottish Government in international child abduction cases.

Thomas moves to the Edinburgh office from SKO with experience of financial provision and Hague Abduction cases at Court of Session. She tutors on the LLB degree Family Law course at the University of Edinburgh.

The new appointments follow the admission of BTO family law specialist Debbie Reekie as a solicitor advocate at the Court of Session.

Partner Lesley Gordon, who heads the family law team, said: “I am delighted to welcome Morven and Brittany to BTO’s multi-talented family law team.

“We are fortunate to be in a positon to offer our clients the full spectrum of services, as well as specialisms such as child relocation and abduction in the case of Morven and first-hand experience of the criminal justice system in the case of Debbie. I look forward to further developing our team and its range of niche services with Morven and Brittany on board.”
