Composers David Housden and Robin Beanland are set to explore storytelling through music in videogames at the EGX 2019 conference.

They will be joined by Janesta Boudreau, Mike Chapman (Rare) and Mark Backler (Sketchbook Games) in this deep dive session, which takes place at the UK’s largest gaming conference in October.

The panel will focus on the creative process and collaborative experience of composers and game directors.

Ivor Novello and BAFTA Award nominated composer Housden (Q.U.B.E. 2, Volume, Thomas Was Alone) and Backler will discuss creating the score for upcoming narrative adventure game, Lost Words: Beyond the Page.

2019 Ivor Novello Award-winning Beanland (Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Jet Force Gemini, Killer Instinct) and Rare’s design director Mike Chapman (Sea of Thieves, DiRT series, Dead to Rights) will also describe their collaboration on Sea of Thieves.

The session, which takes place on 19 October in London, will be chaired by Janesta Boudreau, music supervisor at Frontier Developments (Planet Zoo, Jurassic World Evolution).

EGX attendees will be able to catch the session at 1pm, and it will be live-streamed on Twitch and available to watch later on the EGX YouTube channel.
