The world’s most accomplished League Of Legends player is sticking with the only team he’s ever played for, despite offers from rivals.

In the world of League Of Legends esports there’s no player more respected than Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok. He’s the most successful competitor the scene has ever seen, but he’s only ever played for the team T1 and there’s always been rampant speculation as to whether he would one day move elsewhere.

But not only has Faker signed up to stay at T1 but the new deal will also make him a part-owner of team once he decides to retire.

Faker is only 23 at the moment, so the three times world champion still has a few years of professional play left in him yet, but it seems his future is tied entirely to T1.

According to ESPN, Faker was offered a ‘bank cheque’ from other teams to play abroad but has decided to stick with T1.

The new three-year contract may not sound that long, but it’s the maximum length that League Of Legends publisher Riot Game will allow.

Once Faker retires from professional play he will move to a leadership role within the company, helping to manage new talent, as well as becoming part-owner.

Faker is a major sports celebrity in South Korea, as famous as any traditional sports star, and regularly appears in adverts and on the talk show circuit.

‘I am excited to continue playing for T1 and am thankful for all the fans around the world who have supported me all these years,’ said Faker.

‘I am honoured to become a part-owner of T1 and look forward to working with the leadership team beyond my playing career. I love this team and am proud to help mould the future of this organisation.’
