Longtime Team SoloMid (TSM) League of Legends player Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg has signed a new two-year deal with the organization, which includes an ownership stake in its League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) franchise team.

Bjerg first joined TSM in November 2013, and his new deal runs through 2021. According to a team release, Bjerg is “one of the only LCS players to own a stake in the team he plays for.” He is now TSM’s longest-tenured player to date.

“It was essential for us to re-sign Bjergsen,” said TSM founder and CEO, Andy “Reginald” Dinh, in a release. “Not only is he is one of the best players at his position, he is a great leader. He shares the same values we do as an organization. He is selfless, hardworking, and focused. It is this culture of grit, fortitude, and determination that is the most vital part of our organization. At TSM, we are committed to living this culture, and Bjergsen is a testament to that. He is more than just a player to us, so making him a strategic shareholder was important.”

LCS commissioner Chris Greeley told ESPN that the league is changing its ownership rules beginning with the 2020 season, allowing players to co-own teams that they play for (with league approval). However, only players who have played for at least three consecutive seasons with the same team will be eligible for equity in their respective organizations.

Team SoloMid recently unveiled a look at its upcoming $13M USD Los Angeles headquarters and training facility, which will include a branded Lenovo Legion Lounge and is expected to open in Feb. 2020.
