Christian Bale and Matt Damon have teamed up for racing film Le Mans ‘66 – which follows the true story of two fearless men who are tasked with creating a decent race car for Ford.

A tough ask for anyone, but almost impossible the day before the iconic Le Mans takes place in France.

Enter British driver Ken Miles (Bale) and car designer Carroll Shelby (Damon), who are just about crazy enough to try and make it work.

Until Ken takes a hammer to the car, that is.

A clip shared exclusively with Metro.co.uk shows just how much that pressure took a toll on the driver – leaving his pal to pick up the pieces.

The video shows the moment a SCCA official appears to disqualify the pair over an issue with their trunk, with Ken understandably having none of it.

‘You can stick this b***dy sticker where the sun doesn’t shine,’ he tells ‘Bill’.

When Carroll steps in, asking what the problem is, he fumes: ‘The problem is that Bill here is an a**ehole’.

Carroll suggests there is a ‘middle ground’ that can be reached, telling the expert: ‘You know how he gets on a race day, but you’re not going to DQ us over a trunk’.

But that all goes out the window when Ken goes HAM at the boot of the iconic car, beating the inside of it with a hammer.

Why? We have absolutely no idea, but we cannot wait to find out come 15 November.

Christian recently made headlines after he opened up about his future roles, explaining he is ready to turn his back on putting his body through extreme transformations for our viewing pleasure.

Which is fair enough.

The Batman star is known for drastically shedding and regaining weight for films– most famously dropping 62lbs for The Machinist in 2005, before bulking back up for his part in the Batman trilogy.

However, he has now decided that enough is finally enough.

Speaking to The Sunday Time’s Culture magazine, Christian admitted: ‘I can’t keep doing it. I really can’t. My mortality is staring me in the face.’

On his role as Dick Cheney in Vice – which saw him gain extra pounds – he continued: ‘By this time I’m 20lb in. I said, “Wait — none?” I felt like such a tit, but I thought: I’m on this road, I’m going to keep going.

‘No matter what happens, my wife’s seen it,’ he added. ‘My son loved the tummy. He would just bounce up and down on that a lot and headbutt it and bounce off it and fall to the floor.’

Thankfully, Christian didn’t need any dramatic transformations to play Ken Miles.

Le Mans ’66 is released in UK cinemas from 15 November.
