Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen said Harry Styles's mum and Camilla Parker-Bowles fancy him

He made his name as the rather flamboyant dandy on cult home improvement show Changing Rooms – starring in it from the 90s to the early noughties.

And Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, 54, has clearly retained his sense of cheekiness, telling MailOnline that 25-year-old Harry Styles‘s mother fancies him and it looks like Camilla Parker-Bowles, 71, does, too.

Speaking about his female fanbase, he said: ‘I got stuck in a lift with Harry Styles once when he was first famous – and he kept saying his mum loved me.

‘I started looking at him and thinking, “Oh gosh, I didn’t have an affair with your mother did I? Are you my love child?” He looks like he could be. I loved his look at the Met Gala. I was very proud.

‘I know he is refurbishing his home at the moment and I am desperate to do his house up for him. Can you imagine? I keep dropping wild hints.

‘He needs something very slightly Patrick McNee, early Avengers, with a Napoleonic feel and drums turning into tables.

Laurence had spent the morning of the interview at the Chelsea Flower show and he admitted he was a big fan of Kate Middleton’s ‘wonderful and fun’ garden design.

But he’s not such a fan of Meghan Markle.

He said: ‘I’m sure she is perfectly lovely, but there’s nothing that excites me about her. I am just waiting for Queen Camilla. Can you imagine the fun?’

Very happily married to his wife of 30 years, Jackie – she and Laurence couple have two daughters and now a beloved grandson.

Clearly still very much in love with his wife, Laurence is very clear on what he’s into when it comes to the bedroom department.

He admits he would rather look at Renaissance art than a Playboy magazine when he was at school and said he likes subtlety when it comes to sexuality… and curves!

He said: ‘Always make room for a little bit of erotica. There’s such a gulf between the stuff you see on the internet and something beautiful and slightly veiled.

‘Erotica is better than something overtly sexy. In school, I loved the Renaissance for all of these reasons.

‘Forget the glass copy of Playboy. When I was at school, I would much rather look at a Reuben’s.

‘And those fuller-figured women [in the art world]. For god’s sake, gentlemen don’t want to spend the evening with a dog chew.’

The bearded TV star was keen to discuss his new six-hour, six-part series – a home makeover show on Amazon Prime, called Laurence Of Suburbia.

He said: ‘It’s not DIY SOS. There is not a cause or a sob story, you’re getting a makeover because your house stinks. It’s unapologetic and brutal and the budget is infinite.’

Laurence admitted he likes being the naughty one on these shows and actually, he only made people cry twice on Changing Rooms.

He said: ‘We did the show for ten years and yes, it feels as though I upset more people than that, but that wasn’t the case.

‘People expected to be appalled and I never kicked against it because it meant they were often thrilled when they did like what I did.

‘There was a time though, after Jackie gave birth to our daughter Hermione and I wasn’t being so well received. She had appalling post-natal depression.

‘That was really tough on her, but it made her very strong about who we are. She’s very feisty. We are best friends and still very much enjoy being together.’

Laurence has been away in Australia, filming a show called House Rules and he admits that finds his beach attire, not the easiest thing to find, given his eccentric taste in fashion.

‘It’s very difficult,’ he said. ‘Either your swimming things are too small or they are too big. I buy Ralph Lauren ones which I get tailored, to be medium in length.

‘It’s the one time where I am understated. I’m not a show off on the beach. There is nothing worse than high self-esteem swimwear on an elderly gentleman.’

Speaking of ageing, Laurence is not afraid of a little reality TV, but feels he’s getting too old to do Strictly now.

He said: ‘The nightmare is, I’m getting so old, I would be 2019’s answer to Ann Widdecombe.

‘It would be nice to be one of those married couples who doesn’t divorce at the end of the series, because of the Strictly curse.

‘I’m not keen on the idea though, because the only person I want to dance with is my wife.’
