Lauren Goodger slams BBC for targetting her in undercover investigation

Lauren Goodger has criticised the BBC for targeting her in an undercover investigation about celebrity endorsements.

The former Towie star was secretly filmed agreeing to promote a fake drink containing cyanide – and then exposed in a BBC Three documentary.

In a chat with new magazine, Lauren said: “I got completely set up by the BBC. They told me they were looking for influencers and celebrities to promote the product and they really sold it to us.

“I walked into that meeting and I tried to sell myself. They led me on.

“This meeting went on for two hours and all they managed to get was two bad lines out of me.

“The bottom line is, I said what I had to say to get the job. They totally set me up.

“I trusted the company and the product because they assured me it was fine. It was heartbreaking and I’m disgusted. They tried to ruin my life and I have to live with it now.

“I was totally and utterly set up by the BBC. They f***ed me over.”

A BBC spokesman said: “This satirical undercover entertainment series set out to illustrate the fast-evolving, lucrative business around digital influencers.

“All those involved were given a right of reply and their responses were included in the final show.”
