THE wait is almost over, as Last Tango in Halifax FINALLY returns to our screens.
As it’s been FOUR years since the show was last on, here’s a reminder of what when down in the last season…
What happened on Last Tango In Halifax series 4?
The last series was just two Christmas special episodes which was mainly about Alan and Celia’s respective daughters Caroline and Gillian.
Following Kate’s tragic death in series three, season four saw Caroline discover that the private school she was working at as a headteacher didn’t want her back after her bereavement leave.
Caroline accepted the school’s decision and landed a job in a troubled state school, causing the family to move to a remote Huddersfield farm house – which Celia was NOT happy about.
She also had an affair with wine dealer Olga.
Meanwhile, Gillian believed she was being haunted by the ghost of her ex husband Eddie who she murdered after years of domestic abuse.
Realising that she needed to confess to her crimes to new husband – and Eddie’s brother – Robbie that she had killed him.
Upon hearing the news, Robbie didn’t turn Gillian into the police.
However, he ended up leaving her and her son Raff, selling up his house and permanently moving to Canada.
What will happen on Last Tango In Halifax series 5?
The trailer reveals baby Calamity is now a little girl who can’t help but ask Celia (Anne Reid) all sorts of personal questions, particularly about her age.
Meanwhile Alan (Derek Jacobi) has taken up a job in a local supermarket but trouble could be afoot as his brother Ted arrives from Australia, with no plans to go back.
But one of the most exciting parts of the trailer is when a new relationship for Caroline (Sarah Lancashire) is hinted at.
Fans of the show will know the character was left devastated by the death of her wife Kate shortly after their wedding day.
Caroline was left to raise their daughter Flora alone, but now it looks like love could once again be on the cards.
Elsewhere, Gillian (Nicola Walker) is struggling with debt and asks her dad Alan for help.
While he is keen to support her, Celia isn’t as easily swayed and tells Gillian she is “manipulating” her father.
