Larry King reportedly suffered a heart attack last week at his Los Angeles home.

The 85-year-old news anchor is said to have checked himself into hospital on Thursday for an angiogram but allegedly went into cardiac arrest while packing his bag for the appointment.

According to TMZ, sources claim King had experienced breathing difficulty for several months hence the scheduled hospital check-up.

The iconic talk show host was reportedly transported to hospital by ambulance and doctors are said to have performed and angioplasty. This allegedly included opening up an artery that had collapsed before inserting a number of stents.

King was placed in the intensive care unit but is expected to be released at some point on Monday.

The insider claims King had been seeing doctors about his breathing difficulties for six months but did no diagnose the underlying problem.

King has battled various health problems in the past, including two heart attacks.
