Larry 'Flash' Jenkins dead: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off actor dies aged 63

According to The Blast, Larry died suddenly in Los Angeles this week. The publication said it was believed he suffered a heart attack. The actor played Gummy in the 1985 action-comedy Fletch and was also one of the valet drivers in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. His career also included his stint in 1978 movie Crisis In Sun Valley.

Larry was also a producer and a director, working on films such as Don’t Touch If You Ain’t Prayed.

He founded his own production companies Flashworks Productions in 2015 and Gold Coast Productions in 2009.

Larry was also a regular attendee at his local church and wrote and produced a few gospel movies.

Larry previously spoke out about his role as Wardell Stone in the hit show The White Shadow.

He told Blog Talk Radio: “Comedy for me is very easy, but I love drama. I love the idea of crying and making people sad, I love those moments too.

“Comedy is much more easier for me to do obviously, but it is a real challenge to create a character that gets really deep, down and dirty.”

The actor was married twice in his lifetime; firstly to Michele Jenkins from 1984 to 1991 followed by Jean Coleman Jenkins from 1997 to 2009.

Following the news of his death, many of his fellow showbiz friends and fans flocked to Twitter to pay a tribute.

Actor Shavar Ross commented: “’Actor Larry “Flash’ Jenkins has passed away.

“So sad to learn of this – my sincerest condolences. Nice to have met and worked with this gentleman of a man.”

Another fan penned: “RIP to a good friend of mine… Larry Flash Jenkins!!! — feeling sad.”(sic)

A third wrote: “Rest in peace to the brother Larry Flash Jenkins @larryflashj.”

Earlier this month, Larry attended the memorial of rapper Nipsey Hussle.

The latter died after being shot outside a clothing store in Los Angeles last month.

Larry shared a picture from the memorial on his Facebook page with the comment: “NIPSEY’s death has brought the community together!”

He followed up the post, writing: “R.I.P. NIPSEY HUSTLE. WE WERE NEIGHBORS!”(sic)

Larry is survived by his 25-year-old son Jeffrey.
