Lana Del Rey has spoken about the impact gun violence in America has had on her mental health and revealed that she is constantly on high alert when out in public.

The 34-year-old singer, whose new album Norman F***ing Rockwell was released on Friday, spoke to The Times about album track Look For America, which discusses the after-effects the 2019 El Paso and Dayton shootings have had on American citizens.

‘When I go to the movie theatre I always make sure I know where the exits are,’ Lana admitted.

‘We all do. The same with any big parade or Fourth of July event. I’m not the only one who thinks about it. It’s everybody.’

The Video Games singer also accused the US President of ‘hurting people and encouraging violence in the culture’.

Lana – real name Lizzy Grant – underwent her own traumatic violent experience in 2018 after being the victim of an attempted kidnapping.

Following a police tip-off, a stalker was arrested one block away from Lana’s concert in Orlando, with tickets to her show and a knife in his possession.

A week after the incident, Lana broke down in tears on stage in Atlanta, telling her fans: ‘After what happened in Orlando, I just really wanted to be here with you guys tonight.

‘I was totally feeling fine and then I just got … a little bit nervous when I got on stage. I just want to say that I’m super happy to be here with you guys. But if I’m a little bit feathery, bear with me.’
