LAG Bar combines video games, food and spirits – The Hornet

When it comes to bars, as far as entertainment there’s not much to do unless you are die hard sports fan rooting for your favorite team.

LAG Bar is a different type of bar where instead of watching sports, customers can play or watch video games as their form of entertainment.

Co-owners John Norton and John Hellmers opened the LAG Bar because they wanted to create an environment where fans of video games could come to drink and experience the games they love with people who share the same interest.

Focusing on primarily multiplayer games LAG Bar provides a variety of different video games and consoles that custom can ask to play for free at any time.

One of the main goals over at LAG Bar is to bring people together. They strive to give people who generally spend most of their time playing video games a chance to do so in a more social setting.

“For us it was about bringing in games that people can play together,” said Hellmers.

Not only do they offer video games, but the bar has 8 different beers on tap, creates their own cleverly named cocktails and has an admirable selection of appetizers and entrees.

Weekly events are hosted at LAG Bar such as their Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament every Sunday at 6 p.m. They also have movie nights every Wednesdays at 8 p.m. and impromptu events that might be advertised on their instagram shortly before the events.

Customers can even get in touch with the owner to plan and host their own event at the bar.

LAG Bar is located at 211 West Center Street Promenade, Anaheim.
