Lady Leshurr has experienced the awkward side of online dating like the best of us, after having to dump a love interest by text message.

The former Dancing On Ice star has released her new single, Time To 65075, a summer banger urging fans to get out of bad relationships. The music video sees Leshurr drawing inspiration from her favourite artists and replicating their iconic visuals, such as Beyonce’s Single Ladies, Drake’s Hotline Bling and Missy Elliott’s The Rain.

Leshurr has had her fair share of bad dating experiences, including one instance where she was forced to dump someone she was dating via text message.

‘I do think the majority of people’s break-ups tend to start over text. People do communicate over text, especially with awkward situations,’ the rapper told Metro.co.uk to mark her collaboration with Sky Mobile on the track.

She admitted: ‘I do text a lot when I don’t want confrontation and I think if a relationship’s not going too well, we do tend to hide behind or shy around a text message.

‘So yeah, a few of my relationships have ended via text.’

Recalling the first time she ended it through a screen, Leshurr said: ‘I did something I’ve never done before, it was a spontaneous move and I went for it. I was dating this guy and I was just like I don’t feel the progression with him and I don’t see it going any further.

‘I met him online and had to text him to say, I think we should just be friends because it’s not going anywhere, it’s not doing it for me. He was fine with it, but that’s the first time for me, meeting someone online and having to do it that way.

‘It was a new experience. It’s awkward but got to be done.’

Leshurr, 32, will be returning to screens later this year in the BBC’s brand new reality competition, Rock Of All Ages, which will see the rapper unite with Martin Kemp to create a rock band of over 65s.

Teasing the anticipated series, Leshurr revealed: ‘It’s really wholesome and things like that, especially the genre I’m in, it’s a very ageist industry and that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to be involved. I feel like you get to a certain age in grime and hip hop where people think you’re too old for it now, let the youngsters get involved.’

‘But this is going to be so unique and different and I can’t wait to see what characters we’re going to have and personalities. There are going to be so many stories and that’s what I’m looking forward to.’

However, the Queen’s Speech rapper won’t be following TV’s Mr Nasty’s approach to judging the pension-aged contestants.

‘I can’t be Simon Cowell, no,’ Leshurr insisted. ‘I’m going to be fair with everyone and if someone’s not up to scratch then, of course, I’m going to give them a bit of a nudge but there’s always a way to talk to people.

‘You’ve always got to talk to your elders with respect. I can’t be going in there like Simon Cowell and saying, “get up, do this, do that”. I’m going to speak to them like they’re my friends and build a relationship with them so they can trust me and understand I’m trying to develop them.’

A premiere date for Rock Of All Ages is yet to be announced.

Lady Leshurr has teamed up with Sky Mobile to drop Time to 65075, a break-up banger to inspire the nation to get out of bad relationships. If you’re ready to ditch your mobile network, text PAC to 65075 to make the switch to something better. Watch the full video on Sky’s YouTube channel.
