Lady Gaga: ‘We worked hard on it’ A Star Is Born actress talks Bradley Cooper ‘romance'

In the 2018 revamp of the movie A Star Is Born, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s characters struck up a romance after meeting in a bar. The singer, who played Ally, and the actor, who portrayed musician Jackson Maine, grew close through their love of music and eventually made their relationship official.

Lady Gaga, 33, and Bradley, 44, later put on a cosy display as they performed the movie’s hit Shallow at the Academy Awards this year, prompting many viewers to query if they were more than just friends and co-stars.

Now, the singer has addressed rumours surrounding the pair, telling Elle Magazine: “Quite frankly, I think the press is very silly.

“I mean, we made a love story. For me, as a performer and as an actress, of course we wanted people to believe that we were in love.

“And we wanted people to feel that love at the Oscars. We wanted it to go right through the lens of that camera and to every television that it was being watched on.

“And we worked hard on it, we worked for days. We mapped the whole thing out—it was orchestrated as a performance.”

She added: “In truth, when we talked about it, we went, ‘Well, I guess we did a good job!'”

Romance rumours surfaced in the wake of the singer’s split from her fiancé Christian Carino back in February.

Around this time, a representative for the singer confirmed the couple’s split to E! as a source also told them Christian is “desperately trying to get back together”.

The Born This Way performer first addressed the reaction from her performance with Bradley at the Oscars back in February.

Host Jimmy Kemmel said to the star: “You had such a connection with Bradley that instantly – and I guess this is compliment – people started saying, ‘They must be dating. They must be in love’.”

Lady Gaga rolled her eyes at his comment before she explained: “First of all, social media quite frankly is the toilet of the internet.

“And what it has done to pop culture is just, like, abysmal. Yes, people saw love, and guess what, that’s what we wanted you to see.

“The movie, ‘A Star Is Born,’ is a love story.”

In October last year, Bradley reflected on the first time he met Lady Gaga.

Speaking to W Magazine, he said he was blown away by a performance she did at a venue he was dining at.

He said: “I called her agent the next day and said, ‘Can I go to her house and meet her right away?’

“I drove to Malibu, and we sat on her porch, and the next thing I know, I’m eating spaghetti and meatballs, and I said, ‘Can we sing a song together?’”
