Lady Gaga was touched by a case of nostalgia as she performed at Joe Biden’s rally last night, recalling her relationship and engagement with Taylor Kinney.

The Shallow singer did the honours of headlining Democratic candidate Biden’s final election campaign event on Monday night, hours before he goes head-to-head with Donald Trump to become president of the United States.

Gaga, 34, headed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the event which coincidentally is the hometown of her ex-fiance Taylor.

Before launching into her 2011 romantic ballad You & I, Gaga told the audience: ‘I was engaged to a man from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I know, I know, it didn’t work out.’

She admitted: ‘I loved him so much but it just did not work out but I still love me a Pennsylvania guy. I love Joe, so Joe’s my new Pennsylvania guy.’

Lucky Biden!

Gaga changed the You & I lyrics to honour Biden, singing: ‘Something, something about my cool Pennsylvania guy. There’s something about, Joe, you and I.’

The pop star no doubt holds fond memories of You & I as she met Chicago Fire actor Taylor, 39, on-set of the song’s music video. They dated for around four years before getting engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2015.

However, their love wasn’t meant to be as Gaga and Taylor split the following year with a source at the time revealing that the singer was busy working on her music and didn’t even live in the same state as the actor.

Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, confirmed their break-up in a heartfelt statement on Instagram.

It said: ‘Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break.’

‘We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We’re just like everybody else and we really love each other.’

The Bad Romance singer has been vocal in the run-up to the US presidential election and was criticised by Trump for supporting his opponent

Hitting back at the current POTUS, Gaga tweeted: ‘@realDonaldTrump SO HAPPY IM GLAD TO BE LIVING RENT FREE in your HEAD. #BidenHarris.’

John Legend also performed at Biden’s campaign rally last night and was joined on-stage by rapper Common for their Oscar-winning song Glory.
